SEAT is a Spanish car manufacturer founded in 1950, and currently has headquarters based in Martorell, Spain. Once the manufacturer had become the most popular car brand in Spain, Volkswagen acquired the company as a subsidiary. The SEAT name, however, still remains extremely popular and through the production of sought-after models such as the Ibiza, the company has not become overshadowed by Volkswagen.
In the 1970s, the company turned its attention to motorsports, showcasing its engineering prowess by securing three FIA 2L World Rally Championships and two FIA World Touring Car Championships. The endeavour wasn’t long-lived, however, as the company pulled out of international rallying in 2000, due to a lack of results. This didn’t affect the company’s name or reputation though, and the manufacturer went on to pick up a flurry of awards, including the ‘Best Used Car of the Year’ award in 2020.
SEAT’s range of vehicles has grown massively over the years, with various-sized vehicles available to suit different customer needs. On the smaller end of the scale, there is the Ibiza, which is one of the company’s most popular models. At the other end of the scale, there is the Taracco, which is a 7-seater SUV that boasts approximately 1775l of space. SEAT has EV options too for customers who would like a vehicle that is cheaper to run than traditional petrol/diesel vehicles. This vehicle comes in the form of the Mii model, which is a compact 5-door, capable of travelling up to 160 miles on one charge.
Opting for a SEAT EV, such as the Mii, will allow you easy access to emission-free zones, helping you avoid additional charges for producing C02 emissions. The electric acceleration and minimal noise make the Mii fun to drive too, with the ability to be charged in less than an hour. As a forward-thinking company, we’re a huge advocate for electric vehicles and can help you with every aspect of leasing an EV, including supplying you with a home charging station.
SEAT themselves have an active environmental policy, which includes projects such as the 'SEAT al Sol' project, which details the use of solar power to generate electricity inside its Martorell factory. The company also has a project under the name of 'Cenit Verde', which is a research project into developing hybrid and electric-powered vehicles.
