Honda is a Japanese manufacturing company that was founded in 1946 and is known for producing cars, motorcycles and power equipment. The brand became a giant within the motorcycle industry, becoming the world's largest motorcycle and combustion engine manufacturer by 1959. This established Honda as a heavyweight worldwide brand and gained them a reputation of being reliable and respectable. Despite their formation just after the end of World War 2, it wasn't until 1963 that the company released their first production automobile in the form of the T360 mini pick-up truck. The truck was extremely small when compared with the pick-up trucks of today and was only capable of reaching 62mph.

After gradual expansion in order to diversify its product range, Honda launched Acura, which was introduced into the American market as a luxury brand. The brand was successful too and has been in operation since 1986. The company have participated in Formula One, winning their first title at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix; however, their involvement in the racing championship ended in 1992 when the threat of a takeover from Mitsubishi loomed large. Costs incurred by the potential takeover and the intent to create a more environmentally friendly image were cited as reasons for the withdrawal from the competition. Over the following years, Honda expanded their product offering, particularly their road vehicles, growing their Civic range and establishing it as more upmarket.

The Honda Civic, one of the brand's most popular vehicles, is a hybrid, which allows drivers to utilise both electric power and the combustion engine. The vehicle uses a powertrain system too, which allows the battery to charge through the motion of the vehicle, eradicating the need for it to be plugged in. This means that, should the vehicle run out of fuel, the driver can switch to the electric motor and utilise the energy already stored in the battery. Another vehicle that also uses this method is the highly popular Toyota Prius, which is a direct competitor of the Civic.

Today, their range includes the Jazz, Honda e, CRV-hybrid, HR-V and the Civic 5-door. The Jazz features Honda's hybrid technology and is responsive, smooth and efficient. Its compact size makes it perfect for city driving and it even comes in a sport version, named the Jazz Crosstar. Ergonomic engineering ensures the interior is comfortable and ideal for driving on busy roads with a panoramic view of the journey ahead. This is made possible by the pillars, which are purposely made thinner to increase peripheral vision and reduce the size of the driver's blind spot.

The Honda e has been hailed by the company as its first all-electric urban car, which provides dynamic performance. It's capable of travelling 137 miles on a single charge and can reach 0-60mph in 8.3 seconds. It can also be charged to 80% in just 31 minutes, this means that, whilst you're out and about, you can utilise public charging points to recharge. The appearance of the car is very striking and features unique headlights, which sit facing directly forward and are perfectly circular. The minimalistic aesthetic is enhanced by streamlined features, such as the side cameras that replace the wing mirrors. In a city setting, this can be extremely practical and prevent the possibility of a wing mirror being clipped or damaged whilst parked on a busy road.

The CRV-Hybrid is an SUV with a seamless powertrain system, meaning it is able to charge itself whilst on the move, storing energy for you to utilise whenever you need it. The vehicle system is incredibly smart as it is able to switch driving modes automatically, adapting to the conditions of your environment. The low emissions and fuel efficiency of the vehicle make it a great choice for those who want to keep running costs to a minimum. The luxurious interior can be upholstered with either black leather or ivory leather and features the common central display. Through this display, you'll be able to navigate various apps and entertainment features, including important navigation apps such as maps. The rear folding seats also create extra space for storage in the vehicle, making it ideal for shopping if you're enjoying city life or for outdoor equipment if you're heading out on a family trip.

As the majority of Honda's range incorporates electric technology, whether, in a hybrid or all-electric format, the brand is a great choice for those who are looking to cut down on their carbon footprint.
